This was just an ordinary piece of metal. What happened next will amaze you!!!
Um... so I turned some handlebars for the RD project.
The handlebars for the Aprilia front end are a bit funny. They're like clip-ons but they don't really clip on. They bolt up directly to bosses on the top-yoke - they have a threaded portion recessed into the top of the bars. It's a neat arrangement but it's not adjustable and I imagine the bars are vulnerable in a crash.
I guess Aprilia RS 125s crash a lot cos the bars are pretty expensive on Ebay!
So I chose to turn new bars from 22 mm bright mild steel bar rather than buy them.
I would have liked to make them out of aluminium but the minimum quantity would cost about 200 euro!!
