Queen - Live Aid, 13th July 1985

Today is the 30th anniversary of Live Aid.

There were a number of acts that stood out that day, but it's generally accepted that Queen stole the show and their set is regarded as one of (if not the) best live performances ever.

In the clip below, they're performing in front of a live audience of 72,000 people and a TV audience of 1.9 billion! It's remarkable...

Sorry. This clip has been deleted form YouTube

Hotdogs With Everything

MERCENARY is feeling punk/nostalgic. This track reminds me of living in London in the late '80s, and drinking in the Intrepid Fox in Soho...

Cafe Racers - Short Film

Remember that Morrissey video from about a week ago?

This one... http://www.mercenary.ie/2014/09/morrissey-im-not-man.html

As it turns out, the music video is edited down from a short film called Cafe Racers shot in London in what looks like the latter half of the '80s.

It stars a very young Tamara Beckwith and Edward Tudor Pole, who is an interesting character in his own right (Google him).

The music is by Joe Strummer and Eddie Kidd makes an appearance as the driver of the four-wheel-drive at the end of the movie.

I like it even more now.

Enjoy...

Morrissey - I'm Not a Man

This is a cool unofficial video to accompany the Morrissey track I'm Not a Man. It's a nice little story, well told and sympathetically shot with a wit that I think Morrissey would appreciate.

Check it out below...

BSMC III - Untitled Motorcycles UMC-26

This was another star of the BSMC III show. The donor bike is a Moto Guzzi 850 and the finished product looks to me like it could have been manufactured by MotoGuzzi with a touch of Vincent - you've just never seen one before.

It's a good trick!

BSMC III - Kawasaki Z1

This is my other favorite bike from BSMC III. Sadly, I don't know who built it or anything about it, but it's very, very tasty...

BSMC III - Cold Bitch 900

This was my favorite bike as BSMC III.

Probably.

It started out as a 1986 Honda CB 750 and ended up looking like this. It was built by a guy called Jaco and if you like it, maybe tell him so at jacosaw@yahoo.co.uk.

MERCENARY was at the BSMC III show today in Tobacco Dock, London. It was deadly!

Lots more pics to come, so watch this space...

Imelda

Imelda May aboard a Honda ST1300 Pan European bike taxi racing from the Royal Albert Hall to the Graham Norton Show. I suppose a Norton would probably have been more appropriate for a variety of reasons...

BSMC III

"It's on! And it's going to be even Bigger-er and Better-er than before for 4x more space. The BSMC III this May will be epic.
The celebration of creative custom motorcycle culture continues with Pro-builds, New talent builds, Shed-builds, Art, Photos, Film, Great gear from the best brands, top quality nosh and refreshments, from beer to barrista coffee, and maybe even a few cocktails. Come and see some bikes, eat some posh burgers, oogle the art, get a haircut and leave with an ill-advised tattoo. What's not to love?"
