Drag Racing, Bishopscourt
So. On Friday night while being checked in anticipation of racing on Sunday, the Mercenary Drag Superlight's motor got 'sploded.
So. On Saturday morning Big Honda got pulled out of the hedge where it's been languishing over the winter and had all it's touring accoutrements pulled off.
And on Sunday Big Honda went drag racing in Bishopscourt. Conditions were wet and my head wasn't in the game at all and performance was disappointing. But MERCENARY will prevail!
So. The Mercenary Drag Superlight is going in a dumpster and Big Honda is going on a diet.

Bishopscourt Drag Races
So the MERCENARY Superlight went drag racing last Sunday. Nothing broke, blew up or fell off and it ran a 12.5 at 106 mph which was what we were hoping for, so it was a pretty successful mission!
The chassis worked great, it was docile on launch and stable at speed and the brakes were more than adequate. All we really wanted from the motor was that it stayed together so we could test the chassis so that was good too.
So the plan now is to lose some more weight (bike and pilot!) and to fit a turbo and develop the motor for next year.
A big thanks to Trev for driving and coaching and thanks to Noel for pit support and taking all the photos.

You can say what you like about Trev but you can't fault his attention to detail... |
D-Type Jag |
Drag Slabby |
1.9 Turbo-diesel |
Trev-look VW Jetta |
Painstakingly restored period interior |
BMW spoiler and wood veneer bumper - Attention to detail all the way |
I think this one went to the Jetta |
Matte black Karmann |
This B-King doesn't know it yet but he's about to get eaten by the matte black Slabby |
