INCOMING!!11!! Nerd-bomb in 3 - 2 - 1 Some of the transporters had gear reduction hubs; you could straight-up bolt that into a Beetle and run 30-something inch tires. It was the swing-shaft, so Ralph Nader hated you; but it was like a portal axle too, with the shaft above the wheel hub and increased clearance. It was just two gears, so I guess you just flipped the differential over; which was what you did if you had a Corvair engine swap; cause the rotation is reversed.
